What is Medicare?
Medicare is a Health Insurance Program for:
- People age 65 or older.
- People under age 65 with certain disabilities.
- People of all ages with End-Stage Renal Disease (permanent kidney failure requiring
dialysis or a transplant).
Medicare has Two Parts:
- Part A (Hospital Insurance) Most people don't have to pay for Part
A, but are automatically enrolled at the age of 65.
- Part B (Medical Insurance) Most people pay monthly for Part B.
Enrolling in Medicare Part B is a choice. You can sign up for Medicare Part B within
a 7 month period that begins 3 months before you turn 65.
Medicare Part B
What it is, benefits and how it relates to products for medical care and safety:
Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) helps cover doctors’ services and outpatient
care. It also covers some other medical services that Part A doesn’t cover,
such as some of the services of physical and occupational therapists, and some home
health care. Part B helps pay for these covered services and supplies when they
are medically necessary. Medicare does not cover all health care services. Medicare
will only pay for Part B services and items such as DME, or Durable Medical Equipment,
that are ordered or prescribed by a Medicare-enrolled provider.
In order for the product to be covered by Medicare Part B, the subscriber provides a copy of their Medicare card for validation of Part B services and a prescription from their doctor. EMS Sentry, Inc. processes the paperwork with Medicare for validation of reimbursement. After approval of reimbursement is completed by your insurance carrier EMS Sentry, Inc. will in turn reimburse the subscriber. If paying by MasterCard, Visa or Discover, the reimbursement will be applied back to the card that was charged.
Medicare deductible and premium rates may change every year in January.
We will not delay shipping. The subscriber pays the total cost and EMS Sentry will bill your Insurance Carrier for you and refund the amount of the reimbursement. If paying by MasterCard, Visa or Discover, the reimbursement will be applied back to the card that was charged.
What is DME?
Medicare will cover certain types of medical equipment if there is a medical need.
Medicare generally pays 80 percent of its approved charge.
Medicare defines durable medical equipment (DME) as medical supplies that are:
- able to withstand repeated use;
- primarily and customarily used to serve a medical purpose;
- generally not useful to a person in the absence of an illness or injury;
- appropriate for use in the home.
DME includes items such as walkers, wheelchairs, power scooters, hospital beds,
portable oxygen equipment, and blood glucose monitors, to name a few. In order for
a DME product to be covered by Medicare Part B, a prescription from a physician
